What can life coaching help with?

Every day events happen in your life

…and I want to share with you a story that changed by life in a big way because of life coaching.

The story directly relates to a formula we use as Jack Canfield Trainers in the Success Principles and it’s called E + R = O. This stands for Event + Your Response = Outcome you get.

We respond to the events in our lives in different ways.

Right now, those events could be:

  • overcoming the Monday morning blues.
  • feeling you’ve lost your way a bit
  • building confidence.
  • finding a job or career that you love.
  • getting clear on your goals.
  • staying accountable to your goals.
  • doing more of the activities that engage you.
  • forming better relationships.
  • having more meaning in your life.

At the age of 38 several events happened:

  • I got divorced
  • I had to go back to work full-time to keep my son and I in a house and fed.
  • I had to move house and downsize, get a mortgage and set up home again.
  • My 4 year old was diagnosed with Autism and was expelled from school
  • My Dad died all in the same year and I wasn’t there for him or my mother.
  • I got made redundant 4 times

I responded (R) to all those events by remaining bewildered, sad, and confused and I remember crying a lot at the top of the stairs and in people’s offices and thinking “Why is this happening to me?”

The outcome (O) was an inability to move forward with my life for over two years.

So, having studied the Success Principles™ for some years it dawned on me that I wasn’t taking 100% responsibility for my life and I was responding to the events in my life in a negative way. I was blaming and complaining to people who didn’t care.

My responses to the events in my life just facilitated sadness, and pain.

Then it dawned upon me that I was the one who was responsible for my future success so I made a plan, set myself some goals and created a vision board.

I decided to go back to owning my own business again.

I am now feel confident, grateful and thankful that I have found my way back and am back in control of my life fulfilling my passion to help other people find their way in life. I became a Jack Canfield Certified Trainer in the Success Principles™ and am a dedicated trainer in this amazing method of coaching.

If you’ve got stuff going on in your life you’d like to deal with I’m going to start a 6-week course in May to help you move forward. If you’re interested drop me a message to go on the waiting list.

100% responsibility – nothing less will do.

I want to tell you a story that changed by life in a big way. The story relates directly to the first principle of success called “Take 100% responsibility for your life”.

So, here’s the thing during my 40’s  I got divorced and had to go back to work full-time to keep us in a house and fed. My son Alex was 4 at the time.

It seemed each time I got a job I was made redundant from it pretty quickly.

I felt bewildered, sad, and confused and I remember crying a lot thinking “Why is this happening to me?” I’m highly qualified, do a great job but still I get made redundant. I don’t understand.

The problem I had to overcome was that being made redundant wasn’t about me as a person.

I was just a payroll number. My fears revolved around whether I was good enough in the role yet I knew I was good at my job.

I got in my own way because I didn’t see the signs that I didn’t fit into an employee role. I got defensive when being re-interviewed for other roles which didn’t fit my resume which led to feelings of resentment.

The risk was that I would be left without any money to pay my bills and look after my son. So I kept trying and trying at various different jobs.

I nearly gave up and thought that Government handouts might be the final nail in the coffin.

The moral of my story is that it doesn’t matter how good you are, when employers don’t want you, they don’t want you.

Then it dawned upon me that perhaps I’m not great at being an employee or having other people being in control of my life.

The lightbulb moment for me was when a colleague once told me “It is what is it and we are where we are”. You have to move on Lesley. She then added “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”.

It then dawned on me that perhaps there was something better further down the line, but I didn’t see the message at the time.

So, I went back to owning my own business again.

Now I decide what I want to do and when to hire in people to fill skills shortages when needed.

I am thankful, glad, and lucky that I am back in control of my life fulfilling my passion to help other people find their way in life.

Would I recommend self-employment. Yes, for me it works and works well. I control my week, my workload, and my time off, it’s amazing. I’m my own boss and I love it.

The interesting thing for me is that people hunt me down for work and recommend me for work, so I feel excited when I get up in the morning wondering what’s coming my way next.

So, the purpose of this story was to show you how I took 100% responsibility for my life and that you can too.

With love Lesley

So what do you do?

People in networking meetings usually ask me “So, what do you do?”

My response is to say – I help my clients find the life and career they will love! Over 70% of the clients I’ve worked with had no idea what they wanted from life which is fine if you’re not bothered. It’s one reason you should not hire a life coach.

However, if you do want to know ‘what’s next in your life’ there has never been a better time to get some coaching either 1-1 or as part of a community of likeminded people.

The next question I get asked is “How to you do that?”

My response is that my job is to help them to examine what’s currently keeping them up at night. Here’s some examples.

Different generations worry about different things so as we progress through life the anxiety and stresses change which is completely normal.

Last week I helped a lady in her 20’s explore and discover what she wanted from life and now she is following her passion and moving to her dream job in Europe.

A man in his 30’s was worried about not having achieved anything yet. He went onto create of vision board with my help and now has a focus for the future and a plan to get there.

The Success Principles methodology has worked for decades but you might not have heard of it because its unique to Jack Canfield Certified Trainers. I use proven success principles to guide clients through a transition from feeling worried and stressed to finding their passion, clarity and a road map for their future which  transforms their self-confidence.

I won’t just tell you about these success principles…I will show you how to implement them into your life. Your invited to my next live on-line meet up. It’s FREE and lasts about 30 minutes. What do you want in your life?

Early this year I ran an event for the Junior Chamber International which of course needed to be on-line via Zoom because of Covid.  The workshop was called “Putting your world back together using The Success Principles™”.

All my workshops are interactive and engaging and this one was no different and it was a huge pleasure to be working with JCI members again.

We did some practical, and inspiring exercises using two of The Success Principles I use as a Certified Jack Canfield Trainer.

The first Success Principle is called Take 100% responsibility for your life. The principle is about seeing how we are creating what we are experiencing through our thoughts, images. and behaviours. You’ll find the exercise really thought provoking both for yourself and others around you.

The second Success Principle we used is called “Decide what you want”. One of the easiest ways to start clarifying what you really want is to make a list of things you want to do, things you want to have and things you want to be before you die. This is a great way to get the ball rolling.

The lessons we all learnt from these exercises to is that to make progress in our lives we have to visualize clearly on our future wants and desires.

Here’s what Michael Rothon – JCI Southampton Local President said after the event:

“Lesley is a fantastic trainer, with endless enthusiasm for the effect that success principles can have in our lives. Her skill as a senior lecturer clearly shows with her storytelling techniques to deliver insightful and engaging training. I would 100% invite Lesley back to train for us again and recommend her to others! “

So, I’m asking you now “What you want to do, what you want to be, and what you want to have?”

It’s time to look forward

Join me for the time of your life!

It’s time to look forward.

If you’re like most people, you may feel like you’ve been in a “holding pattern” for the past few months, with no clear vision for the future. After all, it’s hard to focus on the future when you’re not even sure what the world is going to look like a week from now!

But here’s a little secret for you – You create your future. It’s not something that “just happens” to you… It’s a reality you design with your own thoughts and actions.

So now that 2020 is over, I encourage you pull your focus away from the endless news cycle and turn your attention toward the thing that matters most: your own life and future.

Now is the time to get clear on what you want your life to look like in the months to come.

It’s time to create a fresh vision for your life and start taking the steps you need to take to make that vision a reality.

Because when you spend all your time obsessing about the news and worrying about things you can’t change, you distract yourself from the things you CAN change – and the positive outcomes you can create in your own life and the world around you.

So, this week I encourage you to take some time to focus on yourself and what YOU really want to experience in your life.

It’s the first (and most important) step to making your dreams come true! Join me for my live training sessions starting soon. I want to see you there and work alongside you.
